The last week of September is National Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) Week, and October 3rd is National Previvor Day. These are both important events to raise awareness about hereditary cancer and the importance of BRCA gene testing. Millions of people carry an inherited BRCA gene mutation or have a family history of cancer, but many remain unaware of their risk. National HBOC Week and Previvor Day aim to change that.

Posted by Dr. Aaron G. Margulies - June 20, 2018 - Breast Cancer Diagnosis

If you feel a lump in your breast, or have nipple discharge, don’t automatically assume you have breast cancer. There are benign breast conditions that can also cause lumps and bloody nipple discharge, such as an intraductal papilloma. This is a small, non-cancerous tumor that forms in a milk duct in the breast, most commonly in women between the ages 35 and 55. There are no known risk factors to indicate which women might be more likely to develop an intraductal papilloma.
