Margulies dark pink ribbonSusan was aghast. She had breast cancer. But she did everything right. She ate her fruits and vegetables. She went jogging every day. She even read her Bible devotional before going to bed every night. Her faith in a just God, who is fair and good was as strong as ever, but, still life just wasn’t fair. She cried as her husband held her lovingly, letting her know he would be with her every step of the way.

Lymphedema can be a problem worse than a cold rain in spring. Lymphedema is swelling of the arm that can occur after breast cancer surgery and is akin to your kitchen sink sponge soaked with water.

I would like to end our talk with a story of angels, of faith and of love. It is my story. It begins with the love of my wife; it ends with her love and the strength, the support, and the life giving energy that she is to me.

My story begins with a spot – a spot on my shoulder. Each day I would look at this spot and then one day, it changed. I recall my wife telling me to wear sunblock on numerous occasions, but I am a doctor, so I could never get cancer.
